"Delia Rainey is an observer. Her work with decade long gemini folk duo Dubb Nubb, as well as her solo efforts as Dee Bird showcase an innate ability to absorb a context and regurgitate a sort of static beauty found deep in the core of the day to day. This internal narration that colors her lyrical content isn't surprising considering her literature history, in which she's presented writings and poetry that have defied the mundanity of the physical world and attempted to pinpoint in it something meaningful, special or unique.

This collection of poems "The Blue and Red Gummy Worm" then feels like an attempt to immortalize the ephemeral nature of what surrounds us; an encapsulation that is equal parts tribute and analysis of the sights and sensations that follow her in South City St Louis. Around fifty poems seamlessly flowing into each other are narrated by Rainey herself and scored by the hand of Dylan Schnitker, whose ambient compositions provide a pillow and a cloud to the calm yet biting reading.
