"The atmosphere tends to darken when Milena and Austin start branching their synth maze together. Every texture feels friendly only to them. If we could "see" their energy, we'd probably perceive dancing puppets with strings attached in all the wrong places. They understand them, they tame them, they accept them when they're not tame and the resulting alternate dimension of dark synthwave, poignantly apathetic vocals and huge textural force chills your soul on command. Deux Plex appeared quickly in the St Louis music scene but they swiftly attracted synth heads thirsty for a flavor the city has pretty much ignored up until now.

"Beat Suavé" (GUM005) is an ode to classic synth wave, with many flavors that feel familiar but disappear into the darkness when drenched by the very unique musical personalities of Milena and Austin. Deux Plex wears their influences on their sleeve, and their extensive knowledge on 80's alternative synth culture shows. They embrace imperfection, fickleness, slight disparity and thick texture to concoct both instrumentals and songs unlike anything St Louis has heard in the recent future. From deeply involved instrumental cuts such as the erratic club thumper "Le Club" and the severely off putting "Liquid," to vocal floor stoppers that showcase two completely different but equally iconic lyrical personalities such as the depressing violence of "White Room" and the anti-iconic anthem "Minimal Vogue"– Deux Plex is bringing a chillingly fresh voice to the electronic landscape of St Louis. You will dance, and it will be out of hypnosis."
